Biotin supplements cause inaccurate results in several blood tests. Stop taking your biotin supplement 3 days before any blood tests and inform your doctor that you have been taking Biotin. Affected tests include Thyroid Function Tests (TFTs),  Troponin Tests, Hormone Tests (e.g., FSH, LH) and Vitamin D Tests.

Food supplements must not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant, lactating, taking medication, under medical supervision or under the age of 18 it is advisable to consult a GP prior to taking any supplements. Discontinue use and consult a GP if any adverse reactions occur. Do not exceed stated dose.

• Thyroid Function Tests (TFTs): Biotin interference can cause inaccurately high test results for levels of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) and falsely low levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). This means it can hide a thyroid deficiency in blood tests. 
• Troponin Tests: Biotin interference may affect troponin tests used to diagnose heart attacks by causing falsely elevated results.
• Hormone Tests (e.g., FSH, LH): Tests measuring hormones like follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) may be affected by biotin supplementation.
• Vitamin D Tests: Some assays for vitamin D measurement use biotinylated antibodies, potentially leading to inaccurate results.
