Why customers take it

Antioxidant

Quercetin is an antioxidant. It can neutralise types of oxygen molecules in the body known as free radicals, which damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause cell death. Consuming plenty of antioxidants reduces this oxidative stress.

Allergy Relief

Quercetin is very popular among people with allergies. It helps to stabilise mast cells and inhibit the release of histamines, which can help to prevent or reduce the intensity of allergic reactions and can provide some relief even once they have started.

Heart Health

Studies suggest that quercetin may help reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, the plaque build-up in arteries that can lead to heart attack or stroke. It seems to protect against the damage caused by LDL (bad) cholesterol and may help prevent death from heart disease.

Lowers Blood Pressure

Studies show that Quercetin supplementation reduces blood pressure in people who have hypertension. If you already take medications for your blood pressure, talk to you doctor before starting quercetin.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects

Quercetin has anti-inflammatory properties. By blocking certain mechanisms of inflammation in the body, it can be beneficial for various conditions related to chronic inflammation, such as arthritis.

Immune Support

Several research studies have found that quercetin can improve the immune system's response. It may help to rebalance it, increasing the disease-fighting activity whilst dampening down runaway inflammation and allergic reactions.

More stamina

Some research suggests that quercetin supplementation might speed up recovery after exercise or heavy workouts by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress. It’s also used by some athletes aiming to enhance their endurance.

Blood Sugar Control

Quercetin may have a role in managing blood sugar levels. It may help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce complications related to diabetes.

Quercetin is one of a group of vitamins collectively known as flavonoids, also sometimes called Vitamin P. For fruit and flowers, quercetin is their natural defence against insects, bacteria and mould.

Quercetin contributes to the scent and colour of flowers, and adds its pigment to the colour of various orange and red fruits and vegetables. One way to identify the strength and quality of a quercetin supplement is by comparing the intensity of its yellow colour with alternatives.

Quercetin, in its natural form in fruits, is not well absorbed by humans. This means we only take in a small amount of what we eat. In many fruits, it tends to be concentrated in the peel. For example, it’s more concentrated in orange zest than inside the fruit.

Who can benefit from extra Quercetin?

Quercetin helps us absorb Vitamin C, and it also helps this vital vitamin do its job in the human body. Anyone taking Vitamin C for a cold or other bug could get an even more effective boost to the immune system if they take quercetin as well.

Quercetin is popular among people with allergies and histamine intolerance. It can help to stabilise mast cells and inhibit the release of histamines, which reduces the intensity of allergic reactions. People who suffer from frequent allergies may find that extra quercetin also helps them reduce the heavy tiredness that comes afterwards.

Quercetin also helps to reduce the fatigue and tiredness that comes from intense exercise, and it also helps athletes by reducing the oxidative stress that inflicts damage on body cells after exercise.

Quercetin similarly helps the body to regulate inflammation caused by a host of chronic inflammatory conditions. Chronic inflammatory diseases affect about 60% of the population and range from heart disease or autoimmune conditions to arthritis and diabetes.

Perhaps the most important function of quercetin is to keep capillaries healthy. These tiny blood vessels throughout our bodies control when blood cells can leave them to work on body tissues, and they also control which substances are absorbed from our digestive system into our blood stream. Quercetin supports this function. Two common signs of weak capillaries are easy bruising and bleeding gums when you brush your teeth.

Quercetin has been found to raise estradiol and progesterone levels. For some women suffering hot flushes during perimenopause, all it takes to stop them is extra quercetin taken with Vitamin C.

Why is our Quercetin so good?

Our capsules contain just one ingredient: pure quercetin, from the flowers of the Japanese Pagoda Tree (sophora japonica) refined to 98% purity. This makes it one of the purest and most potent supplements on the market.

The capsule contains no fillers, binders or other additives at all.

It comes in silky smooth capsules that are easy to swallow.

The extract is expertly purified to be gentle on the stomach.

Third-party testing certifies it is free from unwanted metals, pesticides, and other contaminants.

It’s manufactured in the UK to GMP standards.

One container gives you a 3-month supply.

Take 2 capsules a day, ideally with a meal. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Quercetin is best absorbed if you eat it at the same time as any food that contains a little oil or fat.

Some important cautions

  • Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and people with kidney disease should avoid quercetin supplements.
  • It’s thought quercetin may reduce the effectiveness of certain antibiotics. Ask your doctor about taking quercetin if you are prescribed antibiotics.
  • Quercetin may increase the effect of blood-thinning medication (anticoagulants). These include Warfarin (Coumadin), Clopidogrel (Plavix), and Aspirin.
  • Doctors are undecided whether quercetin helps or hinders chemotherapy. You should always talk to your oncologist before taking any supplements if you are undergoing chemotherapy.
  • Quercetin may cause corticosteroids to stay in the body longer.
  • Quercetin may interfere with the body's absorption of Cyclosporine, which is used to suppress the immune system.
  • If you take Digoxin, quercetin may increase the risks of this drug.
  • Quercetin can reduce the effectiveness of fluoroquinolones.
