Daily Energy & Reduced Tiredness
Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and Biotin all support the body’s energy-yielding metabolism. They help turn carbohydrates, fats and proteins into usable energy, which reduces tiredness caused by low energy production in the cells.

Nerves, Focus & Mental Performance
Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12 and Biotin contribute to the normal function of the nervous system by supporting nerve signals and brain function. Vitamin B5 also helps with normal mental performance, as it’s needed to make certain brain chemicals.

Healthy Blood
Vitamins B6, B12 and Folate contribute to the normal formation of red blood cells. These cells carry oxygen around the body, so having enough of these vitamins helps prevent problems like anaemia, which can leave you feeling weak or tired.

Immune System Essentials
Vitamins  B6, B12 and Folate support the normal function of the immune system by helping your body make and activate immune cells. Vitamin C also protects these cells from damage, while Biotin contributes to healthy mucous membranes in the nose, lungs, digestive system and elsewhere.

Skin, Hair & Everyday Wellbeing
The B vitamins Biotin, Niacin and Riboflavin all help maintain normal skin, supporting its structure and renewal. Biotin also contributes to healthy hair, while Riboflavin helps protect cells from oxidative stress – a factor that can affect skin.

Heart & Circulation
Folate, B6 and B12 all support normal homocysteine metabolism. Keeping homocysteine levels in check is important for cardiovascular health, as high levels are linked with circulation and heart concerns. These vitamins help maintain normal blood flow and arteries.

What is Vitamin B Complex Good For?

Daily Energy & Vitality

Get the most out of your day with a complete B complex designed to keep you energised. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and C help your body convert food into energy, reduce fatigue and support steady physical and mental performance from morning to night.

Brain, Nerves & Focus

The full family of B vitamins — alongside choline and inositol — helps your brain and nervous system function at their best. They support concentration, memory and mood balance, helping you stay clear-minded and focused even under stress.

Healthy Skin, Hair & Nails

Biotin, niacin and riboflavin support glowing skin, while biotin also nourishes healthy hair and strong nails. PABA and inositol add extra support for natural pigmentation and overall hair vitality.

Heart Health & Circulation

B6, B12, folate and choline help regulate homocysteine levels, supporting normal heart function and blood circulation. These nutrients work together to help your cardiovascular system stay strong and efficient.

Immune Support & Protection

With vitamins C, B6, B12 and folate working in synergy, this blend strengthens immune function and helps your body stay resilient. Vitamin C, riboflavin and niacin also protect cells from oxidative stress — vital for staying well and energised.

Cell Renewal & Recovery

B12, folate and vitamin C support normal cell division and tissue formation, promoting natural repair and renewal at the cellular level. Together, they help maintain healthy growth, recovery and long-term vitality.

Alongside the better-known B vitamins, there are three that sometimes get overlooked: Vitamin B4 (choline), B8 (inositol) and B10 (para-aminobenzoic acid). They aren’t officially part of the “essential” eight, but they still play useful roles in cell function, mood, and metabolism. Some advanced B Complex formulas include them to cover every possible nutrient in the B family.

Vitamin B Complex is a group of eight essential B vitamins – B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 (Biotin), B9 (Folate) and B12. They work together to support energy, metabolism, the nervous system and overall wellbeing.

Each B vitamin has its own role, but they often work best together. For example, some support energy release, while others help make red blood cells or maintain mental performance. A B Complex ensures you’re covering all bases at once.

Taking B vitamins on an empty stomach can cause nausea because they’re water-soluble and are absorbed quickly, which can irritate the stomach lining when there’s no food to buffer them. If this is a problem for you, having them immediately after your main meal of the day reduces stomach irritation and prevents queasiness.

The recommended daily amounts for each B vitamin vary depending on your age, whether you’re male or female, if you eat meat, or if you’re using more than normal - for example when you’re pregnant or when you’re going through physical or mental stress. There are also significant variations in each person’s requirements, depending on their genetic profile. Researchers are just beginning to discover that some people’s bodies use various B vitamins far more efficiently than others. Because B vitamins are water-soluble and quickly excreted, the best quality supplements typically contain far higher doses than the daily minimum - to ensure absorption of adequate amounts and support even in times of greater need - such as stress, age, diet, or specific health conditions.

“Methylated” forms of vitamins, such as methylfolate (B9) or methylcobalamin (B12), are the “active” versions your body can use straight away. Some people have genetic variations (like MTHFR) that make it harder to process standard folic acid or cyanocobalamin, so methylated forms can be more effective for them.

Stress increases the body’s demand for B vitamins, especially B5, B6 and B12, which are involved in energy metabolism and the production of stress-related hormones and neurotransmitters, including cortisol and adrenaline. This means it’s easier to become depleted in B vitamins during stressful times - this is why we often feel deeply exhausted and fatigued after prolonged stress. Taking a high-dose vitamin B complex helps support the body’s natural ways of coping with stress, bolsters mental resilience and reduces the risk of fatigue.

B vitamins help your body turn food into usable energy by supporting metabolism. Without enough of them, your cells can’t efficiently release energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins, which may leave you feeling tired or run down.

Yes. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12 and Biotin all support the normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B5 also contributes to mental performance by helping produce neurotransmitters, the brain chemicals that carry signals between nerve cells.

Folate, B6 and B12 help regulate homocysteine levels in the blood. High homocysteine is linked with cardiovascular concerns, so keeping it balanced supports healthy circulation and heart function.

    Great value and quality

I buy quite a few products from Vitabright. I keep researching to see if there's anything else or new on the market that may be better. It's often hard to tell how effective a supplement is, but I haven't found a brand that matches their value for money for what you get. I checked quite a few Vitamin B complex supplements and Vitabright was the most comprehensive for a very reasonable price.

What Is a Methylated Vitamin B Complex?

A methylated vitamin B complex refers to the form of the vitamins in the supplement. It provides certain B vitamins in their biologically active forms, meaning they are already in the same chemical form your body uses in metabolism.

For example, this includes:

  • Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (active forms of vitamin B12)
  • 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), the active form of folate
  • Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (active vitamin B6)
  • Riboflavin-5-phosphate (active vitamin B2)

Standard forms such as folic acid or cyanocobalamin must first be converted into these active forms before the body can use them. A methylated vitamin B complex provides these nutrients already converted.

This is directly linked to a separate but related concept: methylation, which is a natural process that takes place inside your body.

Methylation is a biochemical process that occurs in every cell. It involves transferring small chemical units called methyl groups and is essential for functions such as DNA synthesis, regulation of gene activity, neurotransmitter production, and normal metabolism of compounds like homocysteine.

Vitamins such as folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 are required for these methylation processes to function normally. When these vitamins are provided in their active forms, they can participate directly in these pathways without needing additional conversion steps.

A methylated vitamin B complex therefore supports methylation by supplying the body with B vitamins in the same forms it uses in these essential cellular processes.

Why Methylation Matters for Your Health

Methylation is a fundamental biochemical process that takes place in every cell of your body. It relies on nutrients such as folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin B6 to transfer small chemical units called methyl groups. These reactions are essential for maintaining normal cellular function.

Key roles include:

  • DNA synthesis and normal cell division, including immune cell production Methylation is required to create and replicate DNA. This is particularly important for rapidly dividing cells such as white blood cells. When your body produces immune cells, folate and vitamin B12 are needed to support proper DNA formation. This allows white blood cells to develop and function normally, contributing to your body’s natural defence system.
  • Regulation of homocysteine metabolism Homocysteine is an amino acid produced during normal protein metabolism. It is not used directly by the body and high levels of homocysteine are associated with heart disease risks. The body deals with homocysteine by recycling it into methionine, a useful compound for a range of the body’s normal processes. Folate and vitamin B12 help convert homocysteine into methionine through methylation, while vitamin B6 helps convert it into cysteine via a separate pathway. Maintaining this normal cycle of homocysteine metabolism is especially important for cardiovascular health.
  • Production of neurotransmitters involved in mood and cognition Methylation supports the synthesis and regulation of key neurotransmitters, including: Serotonin, which contributes to mood balance and emotional stability; Dopamine, involved in motivation, focus, and reward pathways; Noradrenaline, which supports alertness and concentration.
  • Vitamin B6 (in its active form, P-5-P) plays a direct role in neurotransmitter synthesis, while folate and vitamin B12 support methylation reactions required for their regulation.
  • Support for liver metabolic pathways Methylation is involved in processes such as detoxification and lipid metabolism in the liver. Nutrients like choline and folate contribute methyl groups that support these pathways, helping the liver process compounds produced during normal metabolism.

Vitamins such as B12, B6, and folate act as co-factors in these processes. When provided in their active forms, they can participate directly in methylation reactions without requiring conversion.

Some people have reduced efficiency in converting folic acid into its active form due to genetic variations affecting enzymes such as MTHFR. In these cases, providing folate as 5-MTHF offers a more direct route for utilisation.

Methylation supports processes that affect energy, cognition, immune function, and cardiovascular health. Adequate intake of the right forms of B vitamins helps maintain this system.

Key Benefits of a Methylated Vitamin B Complex

A methylated vitamin B complex supports a range of essential functions (These are recognised health claims authorised in the UK by the MHRA).

Energy Production and Reduced Tiredness

Vitamins B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, and folate contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Vitamins B6, B12, and folate also contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Cognitive Function and Mental Performance

Vitamins B5, B6, B12, and folate contribute to normal psychological function. These nutrients support neurotransmitter activity involved in focus and mental clarity.

Nervous System Support

Thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Red Blood Cell Formation

Vitamin B12 and folate contribute to normal red blood cell formation, supporting oxygen transport in the body.

Immune Function

Vitamins B6, B12, and folate contribute to the normal function of the immune system.

Hormonal Regulation

Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity.

Signs You May Benefit from a Methylated Vitamin B Complex

Your body relies on B vitamins every day to support energy production, mental performance, and normal cell function. When your intake or utilisation is not optimal, you may begin to notice subtle changes.

You may recognise some of the following:

  1. You often feel extremely tired or low in energy Vitamins B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, and folate contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism, while B6, B12, and folate contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Low intake of these B vitamins, or being a genetically slow methylator, can reduce your body’s ability to efficiently convert food into energy. This kind of tiredness is relentless and rest does not help at all.
  2. You experience brain fog or reduced concentration Vitamins B5, B6, B12, and folate contribute to normal psychological function. If your levels are not optimal, you may notice difficulty focusing or staying mentally sharp.
  3. Your immune system feels less reliable than it used to When your body makes new white blood cells to keep your immune system working, the DNA in them needs to be methylated. Folate and vitamin B12 contribute to this cell division, which is essential for producing other new cells too, not just those involved in immune function. When the system starts running slowly, you will notice a weaker and slower immune response to infections.
  4. You feel mentally drained during busy or stressful periods B vitamins play a role in supporting the nervous system and neurotransmitter activity. During periods of high demand, your requirements may increase.
  5. You experience “pins and needles” in your hands or feet Sensations such as tingling (paraesthesia) are commonly associated with low vitamin B12 levels. Vitamin B12 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
  6. You notice pale or slightly yellow-tinged skin Vitamin B12 and folate contribute to normal red blood cell formation. When this process is affected, it can influence how oxygen is transported in the body, which may be reflected in skin tone.
  7. You have a sore, red, or smooth tongue (glossitis) Changes in the tongue can be linked to low levels of certain B vitamins, particularly B12 and folate, which are involved in normal cell turnover.
  8. You experience unexplained muscle weakness B vitamins support energy metabolism and nervous system function, both of which are involved in normal muscle performance.
  9. You follow a plant-based or low-animal-product diet Vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal-derived foods. If your diet excludes or limits these, your intake may be lower, making supplementation more relevant.
  10. You notice changes in energy as you get older As you age, absorption and conversion of certain nutrients can become less efficient. Providing vitamins in their active forms may support more direct utilisation.

Remember that these signs can be caused by other issues as well as deficiency in B vitamins. A methylated vitamin B complex can be used alongside a balanced diet to support your daily nutrient intake.

Methylated vs Standard B Complex: What’s the Difference?

The main difference between a methylated vitamin B complex and a cheaper, ordinary B complex lies in the form of the vitamins used.

Standard B complexes often contain forms such as folic acid and cyanocobalamin, which require conversion before the body can use them.

Methylated B complexes provide:

  • 5-MTHF instead of folic acid
  • Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin
  • Pyridoxal-5-phosphate instead of pyridoxine
  • Riboflavin-5-phosphate instead of standard riboflavin

These forms are already biologically active and can be used directly in metabolic processes.

Both forms contribute to nutrient intake, but methylated vitamins are structured to align more closely with how the body naturally uses these nutrients.

What Makes the Best Methylated Vitamin B Complex?

The best methylated vitamin B complex is defined by formulation quality, balance, and clarity.

Key characteristics include:

  • Use of bioactive forms such as 5-MTHF, methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin, and P-5-P
  • A full spectrum of B vitamins working together in complementary pathways
  • Dosages aligned with established nutritional reference values
  • Transparent labelling of ingredient forms and amounts
  • Inclusion of complementary nutrients such as choline or inositol for broader metabolic support
  • Minimal use of unnecessary additives

A well-designed formulation supports normal physiological functions while maintaining accuracy and transparency.

What Sets VitaBright Methylated Vitamin B Complex Apart?

VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex is formulated to provide active B vitamins, comprehensive nutrient coverage, and functional dosage levels in a single, structured formula. This combination supports how your body uses B vitamins in energy metabolism, nervous system function, and overall physiological processes.

Methylated, Bioactive Forms for Direct Use

  • PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid, sometimes referred to as vitamin B10), included in comprehensive B complex formulations
  • Choline (often associated with vitamin B4), which contributes to normal lipid metabolism and liver function

Including these nutrients creates a more complete methylated vitamin B complex, supporting interconnected pathways involved in energy production and cellular function.

Vitamin C for Complementary Immune and Energy Support

VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex also includes vitamin C to complement the role of B vitamins. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal immune system function, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

By combining vitamin C with active B vitamins, the formula supports both metabolic energy processes and immune function in a coordinated way.

Overall, VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex is designed to deliver bioactive nutrients, full-spectrum coverage, and clearly defined dosages, supporting consistent and effective daily supplementation.

Customers Often Ask

What are the benefits of a methylated vitamin B complex?

A methylated vitamin B complex provides active forms of B vitamins that your body can use immediately to support normal energy-yielding metabolism, helping you convert food into usable energy throughout the day. These nutrients also contribute to normal psychological function, supporting mood balance, focus, and mental clarity, while playing a role in nervous system function and helping your body respond to physical and mental stress.

Does everyone need methylated B vitamins?

Technically, no. Some people have highly efficient enzyme systems that mean they can methylate synthetic B vitamins easily. However, the majority of people do have at least one enzyme that works more slowly, and this can create a bottleneck for the whole system. What’s more, you have no way to know how efficiently your body can methylate cheaper B complexes unless you have your DNA tested and your genome decoded by a specialist. This is why it makes more sense for everyone to take a methylated B complex.

Why is this the best methylated vitamin B complex?

This is considered one of the best methylated vitamin B complex options because it includes key bioactive forms such as methylfolate (5-MTHF) and methylcobalamin, which are already in the forms your body uses in methylation pathways. By providing these active nutrients alongside a full spectrum of B vitamins, the formula supports efficient utilisation and aligns closely with normal physiological processes.

Why choose VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex?

VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex is formulated using high-quality, bioactive B vitamins, including methylated and coenzyme forms that are ready for use in the body. The formula is designed to provide clearly defined dosages and a balanced range of nutrients, supporting energy metabolism, cognitive function, and overall metabolic health in a structured and reliable way.

Who needs methylated B vitamins?

Methylated B vitamins may be particularly relevant for people experiencing low energy, ongoing stress, or reduced nutrient utilisation. They may also be suitable for individuals with known variations in methylation pathways, such as MTHFR-related differences, as well as those who prefer nutrients in their active, ready-to-use forms.

Can I take this with activated B12?

Yes, a methylated vitamin B complex can be taken alongside activated forms of vitamin B12, as they work within the same metabolic pathways. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy metabolism, nervous system function, and psychological function, and combining sources may support overall intake where appropriate.

Are VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex tablets vegan?

VitaBright methylated vitamin B complex tablets are typically formulated to be suitable for vegan use, as they do not rely on animal-derived ingredients for their active nutrients. However, it is always advisable to check the product label to confirm suitability for your specific dietary requirements.

Can this help lift my mood?

A methylated vitamin B complex can support normal psychological function by contributing to the production and regulation of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are involved in maintaining a positive mood and an even temper. The inclusion of active forms such as methylfolate and vitamin B6 supports these pathways, making it a relevant option if you are seeking ways to support your mental well-being.

How long until effects are noticeable?

Some people notice improvements in energy levels or mental clarity within one to two weeks of consistent use, particularly if their intake was previously low. However, the timeframe can vary depending on individual nutrient status, lifestyle factors, and consistency of supplementation.

Are there any side effects?

Methylated vitamin B complexes are generally well tolerated when taken as directed. In some cases, mild digestive discomfort such as nausea may occur, particularly if taken on an empty stomach, so taking the supplement with food is often recommended.

Is daily use safe?

Daily use is generally considered safe when taken according to the recommended dosage. B vitamins are water-soluble, meaning excess amounts are typically excreted by the body, and regular intake supports their ongoing role in energy metabolism, nervous system function, and overall health.
