Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 can be taken together, but they are not universally required to be combined. While some brands choose to include both in a single capsule, it isn’t a regulatory or clinical requirement. Current UK and EU guidance does not state that D3 must be taken with K2, and Vitamin D supplements without K2 are widely used and considered safe.
Our D3 is formulated as a standalone supplement because many people already obtain Vitamin K through their diet or prefer to manage their intake separately. Combining nutrients in one capsule can be helpful for some, but it can also limit flexibility for those who need different strengths, are already taking K2 from another source, or have been advised to tailor their intake differently.
Regarding the concern about calcium “going to the wrong places,” it’s important to note that this is an area of ongoing scientific interest, and current regulatory bodies, including the European Food Safety Authority and the UK Department of Health, have not issued guidance stating that D3 should only be taken alongside K2. If such a requirement existed, we would of course follow it.
That said, we absolutely understand that some customers prefer to take D3 and K2 together, and we’re always reviewing emerging research and customer feedback when considering future formulations.

Hello. Sunflower Oil does make up the majority of the capsule fill, as it is a carrier for the active ingredient. Sunflower seed oil is used due to its natural antioxidant properties, its neutral taste and because it is high in other vitamins. particularly vitamin E and Omega 6.

Our Vitamin D3 is formulated to treat low levels of vitamin D, not to maintain the minimum amount required by the 'average healthy adult' (otherwise known as RDA/NRV). In the UK it’s been found that 60% of us have less than the ideal amount of vitamin D and 20% have an actual deficiency.

In the UK we all suffer from a lack of sunlight in winter, which is why the government recommends that everyone should take a vitamin D supplement. If you work indoors all day, this may also apply to you during the summer. The more tanned or naturally dark your skin, the less vitamin D you will make in sunlight and the higher your risk of a deficiency. Using sunscreen creams will also stop you from making vitamin D when out of doors.

4000iu is the lowest upper level the average adult can safely take on a daily basis. We also recommend it be taken alongside vitamin K2, to ensure the calcium it creates is directed to your bones and teeth.

The D3 is sourced from lanolin, and the capsule shell is gelatine. As stated under the Safety section of the product page, this product is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

Our Vitamin K2 is extracted from Natto, a form of fermented soya, but all traces of soya is 100% removed during the extraction process. We use natto because it yields a particularly high quality form of Vitamin K2.

Vitamin D will get into your blood within hours but it can take 1-3 months for vitamin D levels in your blood to build up and remain steady depending on how deficient you are. This depends on a number of factors. Our Vitamin D is the best absorbed form of Vitamin D. We recommend taking Vitamin D with your main meal of the day for best absorption.

One softgel contains 100 mcg (microgrammes) of Vitamin D3, which equals 4000 IU (international units).
