Regular Periods & Ovulation
By restoring more normal insulin and ovarian function, inositol can support fertility, reduce excess androgens, and ease common PCOS symptoms such as irregular periods and acne. Vitamin B6 also contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity (proven health claim authorised by the EFSA and MHRA), an important factor for fertility and menstrual health in women managing PCOS.

Better Insulin Sensitivity
Inositol helps women with PCOS by improving the way their bodies respond to insulin, which can rebalance hormones involved in ovulation and menstrual cycles. Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels (proven health claim authorised by the EFSA and MHRA) which is essential for women with PCOS, as steady blood sugar supports insulin sensitivity and weight management.

Metabolism Support
Chromium contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism (proven health claim authorised by the EFSA and MHRA), helping your body process proteins, carbohydrates and fats efficiently for stable energy and a healthy metabolism.

Energy & Vitality
Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and supports normal energy-yielding metabolism (proven health claim authorised by the EFSA and MHRA), valuable if low energy is linked with hormonal imbalance.

Mind & Mood
Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system (proven health claim authorised by the EFSA and MHRA), supporting mood balance and mental wellbeing, which can sometimes be affected in PCOS.

Cautions
Food supplements must not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and healthy lifestyle. If you are pregnant, lactating, taking medication, under medical supervision or under the age of 18 it is advisable to consult a GP prior to taking any supplements. Discontinue use and consult a GP if any adverse reactions occur. Do not exceed stated dose.

Chew, crush or swallow 4 tablets daily, two in the morning and two in the evening before food.

Whilst it’s safe to swallow these tablets whole, we strongly recommend that you chew them up first - they’re very big!

We recommend taking them with food, because that’s how to make sure you absorb as much as possible.

Consistency is key. Take your inositol every day for best results, as benefits build gradually with continued use. Keep taking the supplement throughout your cycle, including during your period, unless you are advised otherwise by a doctor or nutritionist.

As ovarian function begins to recover, cycles may temporarily become irregular – this can indicate that ovulation is restarting and hormone balance is improving, even if your period pattern seems less predictable at first.

If you are taking inositol to support egg quality, allow at least 90 days before trying to conceive, as this is the typical time needed for an oocyte to mature into a healthy egg ready for ovulation.

Pairing inositol with a balanced diet and regular exercise can further enhance insulin sensitivity and hormonal balance.

Warnings

If you’re on thyroid medication, medication for diabetes or insulin resistance, or fertility treatments, check with your GP before starting this supplement (or any other inositol supplement) to make sure your supplement routine is safely coordinated.

What is VitaBright Inositol Complex Good For?

Regular Periods & Ovulation

Inositol and vitamin B6 offer support for women's monthly cycles and the relief of pre-menstrual symptoms and dysmenorrhea, including for women with PCOS. Myo Inositol is lacking in the ovaries of women with PCOS and supplementing can restore regular ovulation and menstruation. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, making it equally supportive for women with PCOS.

Better Insulin Sensitivity

Correcting inositol deficiency can help tackle insulin resistance in women with PCOS, whilst chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels - helpful for stable energy and weight management.

Metabolism and Weight Management

Chromium helps metabolise food - proteins, carbohydrates and fats - to use for energy and tissue repair. Many women with hormonal issues find it easier to manage their weight once they supplement with inositol for hormones and chromium for additional metabolic and blood sugar support.

Energy & Vitality

Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and supports normal energy-yielding metabolism, valuable if low energy is linked with hormonal imbalance.

Mind & Mood

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function and to the normal functioning of the nervous system, supporting mood balance and mental wellbeing, which can sometimes be affected in PCOS.

FAQs About Myo Inositol & D Chiro Inositol and PCOS

Inositol Complex combines myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol in the scientifically supported 40:1 ratio, along with key partner nutrients like Vitamin B6 and Chromium. It’s designed to support women with PCOS by promoting hormonal balance, healthy ovulation, improved insulin sensitivity and more regular menstrual cycles.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can show up differently in every woman, but common symptoms include irregular or missed periods, acne, oily skin, unwanted hair growth, thinning hair on the scalp, difficulty losing weight, and fertility challenges. Many women also experience signs of insulin resistance such as fatigue, sugar cravings, or weight gain around the abdomen.

PCOS is usually diagnosed using the Rotterdam criteria, which require two of the following three features: irregular or absent ovulation, higher levels of male hormones (androgens) or symptoms of them, and polycystic ovaries seen on ultrasound. Blood tests are often used to check hormone levels, insulin, and thyroid function, while doctors also look at your cycle history and physical symptoms.

Women with PCOS often have insulin resistance, which can disrupt ovulation and increase androgen levels. Inositol, particularly myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol in a 40:1 ratio, helps improve insulin sensitivity, which in turn supports hormone balance, regular ovulation, and fertility. It’s one of the most researched natural options for PCOS-related hormonal and metabolic symptoms.

Not always, but many women benefit significantly. Inositol is most effective for those whose PCOS is linked to insulin resistance or metabolic imbalance — the most common subtype. Women with adrenal or inflammatory forms of PCOS may notice less impact on their cycle, though they may still experience improvements in mood, energy, or skin.

Many PCOS symptoms — like irregular periods, acne, and difficulty losing weight — are linked to insulin resistance and hormonal imbalance. Inositol helps cells respond more effectively to insulin, which can help reduce excess androgens and support normal ovulation. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, while Chromium helps maintain normal blood glucose levels, all working together to restore balance from within.

Every woman’s body is different, but most people notice improvements within 6 to 12 weeks of consistent use. Early changes often include steadier energy and mood, followed by more regular cycles and clearer signs of ovulation. Consistency is key — hormonal balance takes time to restore naturally.

Occasionally, yes — especially in the first month or two. As your hormones and insulin sensitivity start to adjust, your cycle may temporarily become shorter, longer or even skip. This is usually a sign that your ovaries are rebalancing. Most women find their cycles become more regular with continued use over time.

Inositol can still support healthy insulin sensitivity and blood sugar balance even in people without PCOS. It’s sometimes used alongside Chromium and B vitamins to help maintain steady energy levels, reduce sugar cravings, and support metabolic health — especially for those managing mild insulin resistance or blood sugar fluctuations.

Yes, inositol is a vital nutrient for men as well as women. In men, it supports insulin sensitivity, mood balance, and healthy sperm function. Myo-inositol is found in high concentrations in the testes and has been linked to sperm motility and fertility. It’s also used for general metabolic and nervous system support in both sexes.

Inositol is generally very well tolerated, but women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication for blood sugar or thyroid conditions should check with their GP before starting. If you’re underweight, have very low blood sugar, or aren’t sure which type of PCOS you have, seek professional guidance to ensure it’s the right supplement for you.

Yes. It can be safely combined with most vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin D, Omega-3, and magnesium. Many people use it alongside a balanced diet and gentle exercise for the best results in managing PCOS symptoms.

    Good so far

I’ve only been taking these for a month so far and haven’t seen a massive difference yet, I do feel my hunger is more under control now though. I don’t have PCOS but wanted to give these a try to see if they regulate my periods. So far I have also noticed a more stable BBT reading compared to other cycles, so fingers crossed they make me ovulate :) I’d say they are worth a shot!

Huge tablets, but already noticing a positive difference

This is my first time taking any kind of supplements to help manage PCOS symptoms. I have been taking these for about a few weeks now, although only once a day. My period has been a lot easier to deal with already (cramps, menstrual flow). But I did not give five stars as the tablets are huge. I first tried to break them in half and they sharply grazed down my throat... Swallowing them whole is less annoying.

Inositol has become one of the most talked-about supplements in women’s health, particularly in relation to hormones, metabolism and reproductive function. At the same time, it is often poorly explained, reduced to short benefit lists or framed as a quick solution, which does not reflect how it actually works in the body.

This guide looks in detail at myo inositol & D chiro inositol, explains why the ratio between them matters, and sets realistic expectations for supplementation. It is written for women who want to understand what they are taking, why it may be useful, and where its limits lie — especially those searching for a reliable myo inositol UK supplement such as VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol.

1. What Is Inositol?

Inositol is a naturally occurring, vitamin-like compound that plays a role in how cells communicate and respond to signals. It is sometimes grouped with the B vitamins, but it is not technically a vitamin because our bodies can produce it on their own.

Inositol is found throughout the body, particularly in cell membranes, where it helps form signalling molecules that allow cells to respond to hormones such as insulin. Rather than acting as a hormone itself, inositol works behind the scenes, helping signals get from the outside of a cell to the inside, where they can trigger a response.

We also consume small amounts of inositol through food. It is present in fruits, beans, grains and nuts, although modern processing can reduce dietary intake. Even so, inositol deficiency is not common in the classical sense. Interest in supplementation has grown not because most people lack inositol entirely, but because some women appear to use or process it less efficiently in specific tissues.

2. Myo Inositol and D-Chiro Inositol: What’s the Difference?

There are several forms of inositol, but myo inositol and D-chiro inositol are the two most studied in human health.

Myo inositol is the most abundant form in the body. It plays a central role in insulin signalling and is present in high concentrations in tissues that respond strongly to insulin, including the ovaries. Myo inositol helps cells respond appropriately when insulin binds to its receptor, allowing glucose uptake and downstream hormonal signalling to proceed normally.

D-chiro inositol is formed in the body by converting myo inositol through an enzyme-driven process. It has a more specialised role, particularly in insulin-mediated processes related to glucose storage and androgen production.

Importantly, our bodies regulate the balance between these two forms carefully. Different tissues require different proportions, and disruption of this balance can affect how cells respond to insulin and hormones.

3. Why the Myo Inositol : D-Chiro Inositol Ratio Matters

One of the most important findings in inositol research is that balance matters more than dose, especially in ovarian tissue. Studies examining healthy ovarian physiology consistently report a myo inositol to D-chiro inositol ratio of around 40:1.

In some women, particularly those with insulin resistance, the enzyme that converts myo inositol into D-chiro inositol becomes overactive. This leads to excessive conversion and a relative depletion of myo inositol within the ovaries. Even when total inositol levels appear adequate, ovarian cells may struggle to respond properly to insulin.

This has practical consequences. Reduced myo inositol availability can impair follicle development, ovulatory signalling and hormone synthesis. At the same time, excessive D-chiro inositol may increase androgen production. This is why high-dose D-chiro inositol taken alone is not recommended and can, in some cases, worsen ovarian signalling.

Well-designed myo inositol & D chiro inositol formulas aim to restore a physiological ratio rather than overwhelm the system with one form.

4. How Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol Work in the Body

Insulin signalling influences far more than blood sugar. Insulin affects ovarian hormone production, follicle development and androgen synthesis. Myo inositol-dependent signalling pathways help ovarian cells respond appropriately to insulin, while D-chiro inositol supports complementary metabolic pathways.

When insulin signalling becomes inefficient, insulin levels rise. Elevated insulin can stimulate excess androgen production in the ovaries, disrupting ovulation and menstrual regularity. By improving insulin sensitivity at the cellular level, myo inositol & D-chiro inositol support a metabolic environment in which hormonal signals can operate more normally.

Rather than overriding hormones, inositols improve how cells respond to the hormones already present. This explains why effects are gradual and depend on consistent use.

5. Why Women in the UK Use Myo Inositol

Interest in myo inositol UK supplements has grown alongside greater awareness of the link between insulin sensitivity and reproductive function. Many women explore myo inositol & D-chiro inositol when dealing with irregular cycles, ovulatory disruption or metabolic features commonly associated with PCOS.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition characterised by altered ovarian function and androgen production. It is diagnosed based on a combination of features rather than a single test, and it can present differently from one woman to another. Despite its name, PCOS does not always involve ovarian cysts, and its underlying drivers can include insulin resistance, altered hormonal signalling or genetic factors affecting ovarian physiology.

Common features associated with PCOS may include:

  • irregular or absent menstrual cycles
  • ovulation that occurs infrequently or unpredictably
  • elevated androgen levels, which may show up as acne or increased facial or body hair
  • changes in body weight or difficulty managing weight
  • insulin resistance or altered glucose handling
  • polycystic ovarian appearance on ultrasound

It is important to be clear that myo inositol is not a treatment for PCOS, and it does not diagnose, cure or reverse the condition. It is commonly used as part of broader support strategies because of its role in insulin signalling and ovarian responsiveness. This non-hormonal, physiology-supporting approach appeals to women who want to work with their bodies rather than suppress natural processes, while recognising that medical care remains important where needed.

6. What Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol Can and Cannot Do

Myo inositol & D-chiro inositol do not act like medications. They do not force ovulation, override endocrine regulation or produce immediate effects. They also do not reverse structural ovarian changes or replace medical treatment where it is needed. Their role is more specific and more limited: they support cellular signalling pathways that influence how the ovaries and other tissues respond to insulin.

This distinction helps explain why inositol appears to benefit some women with PCOS but not all. PCOS is not a single condition with a single cause. It is a broad diagnosis that can arise from different underlying drivers, and these differences matter when considering how inositol may or may not be useful.

In many women with PCOS, insulin resistance plays a central role. In this pattern, cells respond less effectively to insulin, prompting the body to produce more of it. Elevated insulin levels can stimulate excess androgen production in the ovaries and interfere with ovulatory signalling. Because myo inositol and D-chiro inositol are directly involved in insulin signalling, improving cellular responsiveness can help reduce this downstream disruption. This is the group in which inositol has been studied most extensively and where benefits are most consistently reported.

Other women meet diagnostic criteria for PCOS but show little or no evidence of insulin resistance. Their symptoms may be driven more by hypothalamic–pituitary signalling, adrenal androgen production, inflammation or genetic factors affecting ovarian function. In these cases, insulin signalling is not the primary issue, so improving it may have limited impact on ovulation or hormone patterns. For these women, inositol may offer little noticeable benefit.

There is also variation in how PCOS presents clinically. Some women experience irregular cycles and clear ovulatory disruption, while others ovulate regularly but have elevated androgens or polycystic ovarian morphology on ultrasound. Inositol is more likely to be relevant where insulin sensitivity and ovulatory signalling are part of the picture, and less relevant where symptoms arise from other regulatory pathways.

These differences help explain the mixed experiences women report. Inositol does not “work” or “fail” in general terms; its usefulness depends on whether insulin-related signalling contributes meaningfully to an individual woman’s hormonal pattern.

Because of this variability, inositol supplementation should be viewed as supportive rather than corrective, and as part of a broader approach that considers diet, physical activity, sleep, stress and medical input where appropriate. Consistent use over time is necessary to assess response, and lack of benefit does not indicate misuse or failure, but rather that insulin signalling may not be the primary driver in that case.

7. Ingredients in VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol

VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol is built around ingredients that each play a specific role in how our bodies handle insulin and regulate hormones. The formula focuses on nutrients that work together in pathways that matter for metabolic and reproductive function.

Myo inositol is the main ingredient because it is the form of inositol our bodies use most. It helps cells respond properly to insulin, which is important not just for blood sugar control but also for ovarian function. In the ovaries, myo inositol supports normal follicle development and ovulatory signalling. When levels are too low in this tissue, insulin messages can become distorted, which may affect hormone production. This is why myo inositol is the foundation of the formula.

D-chiro inositol is included in a much smaller, supporting amount. It plays a role in how the body handles glucose and how certain hormones are produced, particularly in tissues like the liver and muscles. When used in balance with myo inositol, it supports these metabolic processes without interfering with ovarian signalling.

Chromium helps insulin do its job more efficiently. It supports the way insulin signals cells to take up glucose, which can help improve overall insulin responsiveness. Because insulin signalling sits at the centre of many metabolic and hormonal processes, chromium is a useful supporting nutrient in an inositol-based formula.

Vitamin B6 supports how the body processes amino acids and helps make neurotransmitters that are involved in hormone regulation. It also plays a role in energy metabolism, helping cells meet everyday demands. Rather than targeting one hormone, vitamin B6 supports the systems that allow hormones to be regulated smoothly.

Folic acid supports normal cell division and DNA synthesis. This is especially important for reproductive health and for women who may be planning pregnancy, as folate plays a key role in early development. Including folic acid ensures the formula supports normal cellular processes alongside inositol’s signalling effects.

VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol is built around ingredients that work together in the metabolic and hormonal pathways involved in insulin signalling and reproductive function. Each ingredient has a specific role, and the formula focuses on nutrients that support how these systems operate in the body.

8. How to Take VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol

Myo inositol & D-chiro inositol are typically taken daily and can be taken with or without food. Some women prefer to split the dose between morning and evening, although consistency matters more than timing. Our tablets are large and best chewed before swallowing.

Because inositol works by influencing signalling pathways rather than producing immediate effects, you will need to take it for several months before you can evaluate how it’s working.

9. How Long Myo Inositol Takes to Show Effects

Most clinical studies assess outcomes over 8 to 24 weeks, reflecting the time required for insulin sensitivity and ovarian signalling patterns to adjust.

Short-term use is unlikely to produce noticeable changes. Increasing the dose does not necessarily accelerate results and may increase digestive discomfort. A steady, consistent approach aligns better with how our bodies regulate metabolic and reproductive processes.

10. Who VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol Is For

VitaBright Myo Inositol & D-Chiro Inositol is designed for women seeking a well-formulated myo inositol UK supplement grounded in evidence and transparency.

It may suit women looking to support menstrual regularity, ovulatory function, insulin sensitivity or metabolic factors linked to hormonal health. It is not intended to replace medical care.

Inositol is generally well tolerated. Mild digestive effects can occur at higher doses, particularly when starting supplementation.

Pregnant women and breastfeeding women should seek professional advice before use. Women taking medication that affects blood sugar or hormones should also consult a healthcare professional.
